Gold, Metals & Coins

For over 47 years, Design One Jewelers has helped families across Clearwater and the Tampa Bay area buy and sell precious metals with confidence. We purchase gold, silver, platinum, bullion, coins, sterling flatware, and even broken or mismatched jewelry.

Is it tarnished, crushed, oddly shaped, outdated, or missing a stone? If it’s made of karat gold, sterling silver, or platinum, it may still carry real value.

If you’re unsure what you have, bring everything in. We will sort through it with you, explain what’s valuable and why, and walk you through your options. You are never pressured to sell. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision.

Selling Gold in Clearwater

Whether you’re selling a single broken chain or an entire estate collection, we evaluate every piece carefully and transparently.

What We Buy Includes:

  • Gold jewelry in any condition
  • Scrap gold and mismatched pieces
  • Gold coins and bullion
  • Estate and antique gold
  • Dental gold
  • Gold with diamonds or gemstones

Gold holds its value regardless of how a piece looks, so even the most overlooked items in a drawer may be worth more than you’d expect.

How Gold Value Is Determined

Gold value is based primarily on:

  • Purity (karat)
  • Weight
  • Current daily market price

Most gold is stamped with a karat marking, such as 10K (417), 14K (585), 18K (750), or 24K (999). If a piece is not clearly marked, or if we need confirmation, we perform a discreet scratch test with your permission to verify its karat. This allows us to provide an accurate, science-based evaluation.

We consult the live gold market daily and establish a consistent buying rate so you receive a competitive offer based on that day’s fair market value.

You always have the right to say no. There is never pressure to sell.

Gold with Diamonds or Gemstones

If your gold contains stones, we evaluate the piece individually. Some diamonds and gemstones add value; others may not significantly affect the metal price.

If you wish to keep a diamond or gemstone, but sell the gold setting, we can safely remove the stone for you. Our goal is to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with every decision.

Selling Silver

Silver is often overlooked, yet many households have valuable sterling pieces stored away in drawers or cabinets.

What we purchase includes:

  • Sterling silver jewelry
  • Sterling flatware and serving pieces
  • Tableware and hollowware
  • Silver coins
  • Silver bullion

Sterling vs. Silver-Plated

Sterling silver is typically marked “925” or “Sterling,” meaning it contains 92.5% pure silver. Silver-plated items contain only a thin surface layer of silver and generally do not have melt value.

Not sure which you have? Bring it in. We will test and explain the difference.

Like gold, silver is priced according to:

  • Purity
  • Weight
  • Daily market rate

Gold & Silver Coins and Bullion

Coins and bullion require special attention because their value may extend beyond metal content.

What we purchase includes:

  • Gold coins
  • Silver coins
  • American Eagles
  • Canadian Maple Leafs
  • Morgan and Peace dollars
  • Pre-1965 U.S. silver coins
  • Commemorative and specialty coins
  • Gold and silver bullion bars and rounds

Melt Value vs. Numismatic Value

Some coins are valued primarily for their metal content. Others may carry additional collectible, or numismatic, value depending on rarity, condition, and demand.

Because we have decades of experience handling estate collections and coin portfolios, we understand how to distinguish between melt value and collectible value. We evaluate coins individually and explain what contributes to their worth.

If you’ve inherited a coin collection or accumulated bullion over time, we can help you determine the best course of action.
